White children could be “minority” in the US by 2019 with Hispanics and Asians accounting for all the growth among the nation’s child population. Based on data from the 2000 and 2010 censuses, the population of white children declined by 4.3 million in the time period, while Hispanic and Asian children grew by 5.5 million.
Previous predictions showed 2042 would be the year for the general population and 2023 for the child population, however when the 2010 data is considered the year could come much sooner.
